Daiya Cheese and Earth's General Store!

So I just realised today after visiting the Earth's General Store Websie that they now offer Daiya Cheese. I have been follwoing Daiya for quite a while and hoping and wishing it would come to Edmonton, so, to say the least I am very excited! I had considered buying it online but hadn't gotten around to it. Has anyone tried it? What is your take on it? Now if there was a place I could get

2nd Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale - Success!

The 2nd Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale that occurred on Saturday May 1^st was a great success!

Many people volunteered baking, and really went all out with the wonderful cookies, cakes, squares, bars, muffins, breads, etc.

The bake sale earned Voice for Animals and Vegans & Vegetarians of Alberta over $800 over the course of four hours!

A most sincere thank-you goes to Planet Organic for the use of a table inside of their store, and the donation of coupon prizes for the trivia contest we held to help bring customers over to our table.

WSPA Animal Welfare Petition

I wrote this to WSPA. I was wondering now if I was way off base: ***************** Although I am completely in agreement that non-human animals deserve a better life, I am troubled by this petition and am hesitant to sign it for the following reasons: - You exclude humans and "people" from the classification "animal." This sort of wording simply reinforces the notion of human supremacy, and that personhood *necessarily* entails humanity.

Wonderful Pizza. You can substitute anything on the menu with another item. I had the spicy Thai pizza. Comes with chicken substituted mushrooms!! and the price is adjusted to reflect the cheaper topping. Another bonus Vegan Rella cheese is available on all pizza's!!! Making this a pizza place for vegan's as well!!!!

So, after a fantastic meal at Padmanadi, we were driving home and went past a new store just a few blocks away. Whole Vegetarian Food Inc. has a crazy selection of frozen meat/fish analogs, freezers and freezers full of different varieties. They are open 7 days a week, if you get the chance check them out.

Misella Delite Vegan Restaurant in Stony Plain

Has anyone else tried Misella Delite in Stony Plain? We stopped in for an early lunch last week and were pleased with everything we tried. We were too early for the vegan sushi, and didn't have room for desert, which was too bad since the apple strudel looked awesome. The food was freshly made from mostly organic ingredients, the portions were good, the service was quick and friendly. The only down side is they are only open during the day on Monday to Friday, no evenings or weekends.
